According to Manfred Ruettgers, the chapel at Heidger Muehle was built by Hans Jacob Geisen in 1756 and dedicated to St. Jacob. According to the website “Moselschieferstrasse.de,” the roof on the chapel was the oldest original slate roof in Europe when it was replaced in about 1950.
