Christian, along with his brothers Anton and Matthias, as well as 35-year-old Victor Hensgen, sailed from Liverpool, England on the ship “Panthea,” arriving in New York, New York on August 20, 1846. Christian was mistakenly listed as a female named Christine.
In 1860 Christian lived with his wife Magdalene and their children Anton and Mary in Marshfield Township, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin. They lived with his wife’s parents, Johann and Elizabeth Steffes and Magdalene’s siblings.
