In 1880 he and his wife Gertrude and daughter Gertrude lived in Hamler, Marion Township, Henry County, Ohio. In 1900 he and his wife and three of their daughters lived in Hamler, along with a servant doing farm labor. They lived near the home of his brother Michael Oedy. The census reported that he was born in July of 1852.
