One source gives January 16, 1823 as his birth date.
He sailed from Le Havre, France with his wife “Mariann” and his 2-year-old daughter Bertha on the French bark “Adheman,” arriving in New York, New York on June 7, 1851. A Franz Oede was on the same ship. Both were reported to be from Bavaria, as were all of the passengers who were not from France.
In 1860 Michael, his wife Mary, and sons Joseph, Michael and Valentine lived in Salem, Wyandot County, Ohio.
