He immigrated with his parents and siblings in 1885 and became a naturalized citizen of the United States.
In 1910, 1920 and 1930 he and his family lived in Avon Township, Lorain County, Ohio. In 1910 his family name was transcribed as “Hinzel.” In 1940 he and his wife and son Edmund, as well as his daughter Elizabeth and her husband Raymond Diederich, lived in Avon, Lorain County, Ohio. As had been true for many years, they lived next door to the Joseph Klingshirn family.
He resided in Avon but, based on the Ohio, Deaths report, died in Elyria, Lorain County.

Her father was born in Bavaria and her mother was born in Hesse. In 1900 she lived with her widowed mother and four of her siblings as well as a niece in Avon, Lorain County, Ohio.
As of 1910 she had had four children, all of whom were living.
