His father’s name was John Juchem.
His last name was also spelled Yuchem. Nikolaus was a leading founder of St. Peter's Church in N. Ridgeville, Ohio. In 1880 he died of typhoid fever that he had contracted while helping to care for the sick and dead during the epidemic.
They had 12 children of whom 10 died in infancy.

She immigrated to Ohio with her father and siblings in 1855. In 1900 she lived with her son John and his wife Gertrude in North Ridgeville, Lorain County, Ohio. The census reported she had had 12 children, of whom two were living in 1900.
