Notes for Michael (Spouse 1)
Source: Records of St. Remigius Church in Retterath; Mary Catherine Diederich’s history; and Allen Huelskamp.
His godparents were Michael Haerig and Gertrud Jax of Triererhof, Retterath, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany.
He was a farmer in Germany. He and his children immigrated to Ohio in 1855. They took the Devonshire from London to New York, arriving 15 August 1855. His brother Nikolaus and his family, as well as Jakob Weiler and his family, were on the same ship. He purchased land on September 21, 1855 in LaGrange Township, Lorain County, Ohio.
Much of the information on his grandchildren is from Mary Catherine Diederich's history that I received from Robert Weber.
