Jakob immigrated to Ohio with his wife, their son, and his in-laws, etc., arriving in New York on Aug. 15, 1855 on the Devonshire. He became a naturalized citizen.
In 1870, 1880 and 1900 he lived in Avon, Lorain County, Ohio with his wife and other family members. In 1880 they lived next door to John and Margaret Weiler.
