The 1900 census gives Germany as her birthplace and states that she had immigrated in 1857. As of 1900 the census reported that Mathilda had had three children, all of whom were living. The 1910 census reported that she had had four children, three of whom were living.

In 1880 he lived with his wife and three daughters in Union Township, Pierce County, Wisconsin. In 1900 he lived with his wife and daughter Anna in Union Township.
