He immigrated in 1873 and became a naturalized citizen of the United States. In 1900, 1910 and 1920 he and his family lived in Russia Township, Oberlin, Lorain County, Ohio. In 1910 their daughter Anna, her husband and child lived nearby. In 1920 his widowed daughter Mary Shuster lived with his family, along with her two children. In 1930 he lived in Russia Township with his son Jacob and his daughter Mary and her children.

She immigrated in 1871 and became a naturalized citizen of the United States. As of 1910 she had had five children all of whom were living.
