In 1920 he lived with his wife Mary Ann and their three children in Elyria, Lorain County, Ohio. In 1930 he and his wife Mary Ann lived in Elyria with their four children. The census listed his last name as Place.
In 1940 he was a widower--his second wife Marjorie had died--and he lived in Russia Township, Lorain County with his children Robert and Mary Catherine from his first marriage, and Barbara Jean from his second marriage. His son Robert had lived with him in Wellington, Lorain County, Ohio in 1935. The other children had lived in Elyria, Lorain County in 1935.
In 1942 he lived in Eaton Township, Lorain County.
