In the 1930 federal census, her birthplace was reported to be Ohio, her mother’s birthplace to be Pennsylvania, and her father’s birthplace was reported to have been Wales. In 1940 Alvern lived with her mother, Peter J. Diederich, her sister’s Roberta and Billie, and her niece Barbara J. Giebner.
When she married in 1941, her father’s name was given as Jason J. [Diederich was implied] and her mother’s name was reported to be Alexa M. McDonald.
