He and his brothers Paul and Thomas sailed from Antwerp, Belgium on the “Stadt Antwerp,” arriving in New York, New York on July 1, 1846.
This couple had 13 or 14 children.
In 1860 Nicholas and his family lived in Marshfield, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin with his wife and their children John, Thomas, Anton, and Peter. His brother Paul and his family lived next door. In 1870 and 1880 he and his wife and children lived in Forest Township, Fond du Lac County. His family later moved to Iowa.
