In 1850 his widow Anna Katharine and two children, Matthias and John, were enumerated in the census record in Avon Township, Lorain County, Ohio with her second husband, Mathias Rothgery. It is possible that his last name was spelled Kreitzen.

In 1850 he and his wife Anna Katherine and their children lived in Avon Township, Lorain County, Ohio. Two of Anna Katherine’s children, Mathias and John Kreiser, lived with them. They lived close to the farm of John and Maria Anna Kreitzen and their family. In 1860 they lived in Sheffield Township, Lorain County, near the homes of Johann Diederich and John Fenner. In 1880 he and his wife lived with their son Anton and his wife in Sheffield. Findagrave.com has his date of death as December 6, 1887.
