Source: www.findagrave.com; and 1830 and 1840 United States Federal Censuses.
In 1830 he lived in Brownhelm Township, Lorain County, Ohio. In 1830 names were listed alphabetically in the census rather than geographically within the township.
Including Rodney Andrews there were three males under five years of age, one male between 15 and 19, and one male and one female between 20 and 29. A man named Samuel Andrews, aged 50 to 59, who lived with a woman aged 50 to 59, lived in Brownhelm as well. All of these were categorized as “Free White Persons.”
In 1840 Rodney he lived in Brownhelm as did Sam. Names were apparently listed geographically rather than alphabetically but no locations are given within the township. Sam and his family lived adjacent to Rodney’s family. The Andrews family name was transcribed “Andress.” In 1840 Rodney’s family included a male and a female each age 30 to 39 and as well as 11 younger persons—nine males and two females.
In 1840 Samuel’s name was transcribed “Saml Andruff.”Sam’s family included one male between 50 and 59 and one female aged 60 to 69, as well as some younger persons. Samuel may have been Rodney’s father.
