He arrived in New York, New York on November 15, 1867, having sailed from Antwerp, Belgium on the ship “City of Cork.” The passenger list gave laborer as his occupation. The census for 1900 recorded that he immigrated in 1868 and had become a naturalized citizen.
In 1880, 1900 and 1910 he lived in North Ridgeville, Lorain County, Ohio. In 1880 his family is enumerated on page 27 of the Ridgeville census documents. In 1900 his second wife Odelheid (or Adelaide) lived with him and his sons Peter and Victor.
In 1910 he lived with his son Victor.
