He reported that he had immigrated in 1841. He became a naturalized citizen. He resided in Prescott, Grenville, Ontario, Canada in 1861. Prescott is directly across the St. Lawrence River from Saint Lawrence County, New York. At that time he reported that he was a servant and was a widower. He served in the 18th New York Infantry from October 1861 to May 1865 (?). He served as a corporal in the 6th New Hampshire Infantry from June 1864 to July 1865. He had asthma and heart disease. In 1870 he and his wife and two children lived in Oswegatchie, Saint Lawrence County, New York. In 1880 he and his wife lived in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio with four of their children. He was admitted to the U.S. National Home for Disabled Soldiers in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio in July of 1891 and was discharged in December of 1897 at his request. At that time he had his papers sent to Chagrin Falls, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. His son Charles lived in Chagrin Falls about that time. In 1900 he and his wife lived in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio with his wife’s sister Mary Lesh. He was readmitted to the U.S. National Home for Disabled Soldiers in Dayton in May of 1902 and discharged at his request in March of 1903.

Her father was from England and her mother from Canada. In 1890 and 1907 she lived in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. In 1910 she lived in Buffalo, Erie County, New York with her son Charles and his family as well as his brother-in-law Joseph Gaeb. She had had five children, all of whom were living in 1910.
