Notes for Anton Pauly
Heimbach-Weis is now part of the city of Neuwied, north of Koblenz and east of the Rhine River. Anton and Christian Pauli have been a source of great confusion. In a prior version of this family history I indicated that Anton died in 1820. However that was a different Anton Pauli, from a nearby town. Then it was thought that Anton had immigrated to St. Louis because one of the Pauli brothers was known to have immigrated there, but the one who lived in St. Louis called himself Christian, not Anton. In March 2006 Manfred Ruettgers found records indicating that Anton actually remained in Germany. However he also found a record that Anton (senior) and Lucie had a son Christian who was born late in 1799. This was the son who immigrated to St. Louis. Anton and his brother Christian were born within the same year, barely eight and a half months apart.
