He and his wife immigrated in 1872. In 1880 he and his wife lived in Taycheedah Township, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin with their children Margaret and Peter. In 1900 he lived with his wife and son Peter in Taycheedah. His daughter Margaret and her family lived next door. In 1910 he and his wife lived with their widowed son Peter in Taycheedah. Their daughter Margaret, her husband Jacob Gillis, and their family lived nearby. Their granddaughter Rosa Gillis lived with them as their servant.
